MINDFULNESS AND NAVIGATING/MEDIATING DIFFICULT CONVERSATIONS

In this intermediate level practice group, you develop empathic communication skills and "maps" for effectively navigating and mediating difficult conversations between yourself and others, and supporting connection between others in your personal life and in organizations, groups, and teams. This course integrates mindfulness meditation, neuroscience, and compassion practices. The communication maps from the Mediate Your Life training program that you will learn are: The 5-step Mediation Map (MM), the Interpersonal Mediation (IPM) process, the Intensity Exercise (IE), and 3Chairs Process for Difficult Conversations (3CP).

John will work with your group for the first 4-8 weeks, depending on the number of people in your group (i.e. 4 people = 4 weeks, 8 people or more = 8 weeks). Each session with John for this group is 1.5 hours. He will also show you how to make video and audio recording of sessions, and provide learning materials and resources.

PREREQUISITE: You have done 12 weeks or more of practice in a Foundations of Empathic Communication practice group, or have participated in 20 hours or more of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) training.
